ASSIGNMENT: LIGHT PAINTING/DRAWING

 OBJECTIVES:
To create a digital imaging using a moving light source.
 PROCEDURES:

Do as lot of research. Check out some light drawing that this old guy named Picasso used to make.Do a google image search for drawing or painting with light. After you see what is possible:

1. The first thing you need to do is find out how you can get your camera to keep the shutter open as long as it can. Ideally 5 to 30 second exposures are good. See if your camera has an adjustable shutter. See if it has a fireworks mode.Try experimenting in the dark with every mode.

2. Choose a light source. Some ideas: cell phones. glow sticks, flash lights, anything that will light up. Experimentation is your friend.

3. Decide if you want to hand hold, or place your camera on some object while the sensor is being exposed. Experiment with both to see which method you like best.

4. Find a dark room or go outside at night and experiment.

 TURN IN:
Two finished 5x7 or 7x5 images named light1.jpg, and light2.jpg. Put it in a folder named "yourlastnamelight" in your student server space.
 EVALUATION:

Aesthetics:
Have you used the appropriate elements and principles of design that would enhance your photograph or did you just shoot what was in front of the camera? Have you used good composition or did you just place the center of interest in the center because it was easy?

Mechanics:
Camera Techniques: Is the image sharp/in focus? Is the exposure correct? Was the appropriate aperture/shutter speed used (if applicable for your camera), did you find the best angle?

Computer Techniques: Is the image sharp/in focus? Is it resized correctly? Is it color corrected and sharpened?
