  To use you photojournalistic skills to document GHHS culture.  
 PROCEDURES:     
 

School Culture

This information (pictures and quotes) will be provided to the yearbook staff for possible yearbook inclusion.

You will be allowed to take pictures during class three class periods only. Plan carefully.

Ask before you take a picture of anybody. Say, "Would it be OK if I take some pictures for the yearbook?" If they say yes, quietly take a few shots and leave. If they say no, quietly leave - no comments, no arguments. You do not have the right to take anyone's picture. Knock before entering an office or classroom.

Include all data in file description (File>FILE INFO>DESCRIPTION). See me for info.

1. Take pictures of the staff working in the office. This could include administrators, secretaries, people working in the attendance and registration office - all of the people who make this place work.

3. Take a picture of someone/someplace/something that "exposes" what Gig Harbor High School is all about. Identify what your picture is of and explain why it best represents the school.

4. Take a picture of a student carrying a backpack or a purse. Find out what the most interesting item in the person's bag or purse is and why it is in the person's bag.

Your assignment will be graded using these criteria:

Vision:
Is you image original, innovative and daring, or just another example of the same old thing? Does it fulfill the requirements for the assignment (see assignment requirements above) ?

Aesthetics:
Have you used the appropriate elements and principles of design that would enhance your photograph or did you just shoot what was in front of the camera? Have you used good composition or did you just place the center of interest in the center because it was easy?

Mechanics:
Camera Techniques: Is the image sharp/in focus? Is the exposure correct? Was the appropriate aperture/shutter speed used (if applicable for your camera), did you find the best angle?

Computer Techniques: Is the image sharp/in focus? Is it resized correctly? Is it color corrected and sharpened?
