| ASSIGNMENT: | Toy/Collectable Still Life | |
| OBJECTIVES: | ||
| Photographers are often asked to shoot pictures of objects for advertising. One of the challenges to to present the object in an environment that helps sell it. Shoot your object in an environment that enhances the image. | ||
| PROCEDURES: | ||
Pick an object that you have some interest in--dolls, toy cars, action figures, collectables--something that is small that can be placed in a variety of environments. Do some experimenting. Try different locations, angles, and camera settings.Try not to use flash. If your camera has the option to turn off the flash, turn it off. If you are inside try taking the shade off of a lamp and experiment with positioning it around the object at different locations. Maybe you have a shop light in the garage that you can use. If you are photographing out side, experiment with the placement of the sun (try moving the object to get the sun to hit it at different angles). Try to bring some life to the object by photographing it in an environment that fits the object. Do a lot of experimenting with this. You will need to turn in four images for the assignment.They need to have different backgrounds. Be sure the object is in focus. To clarify: one object in four different locations. Don't forget what you learned on the last two assignments. Consider using those things (leading lines, rule of thirds, framing, some color theory) when creating these images. |
